Why Second School

Hi. At Second School, we are parents too. Some of us have children in school, and are concerned like all parents, that they should do well.  We go for open days, school functions and the regular meetings with teachers.  We get report cards which can vary between good and bad.  We worry about their future, and whether they are actually learning everything they should know.

We would like to see detailed analysis on the progress of our children, and we would like to know if we can help.  Does our child have trouble in recollection?  Or solving specific types of word problems in Maths?  Or for that matter, what will they excel in?   What do they love doing?

Teachers today can do only so much with class sizes of around 40 and many classes to teach.  The new CBSE guidelines are trying to address some of these issues by looking for a substantive formative evaluation system.  But until the reality of the schools change, it will be hard for the teacher to remember every child, especially those who do not stand out in some way.

Second School was born out of a conviction that each child needs individual attention. Second School centers operate out of homes or neighborhood centers, with teachers who love the subject and know it deeply. Second School uses the best teaching methods and tools available, with class sizes small enough for each child to get individual attention. Second School uses assessment to diagnose specific areas of focus for a child and shares that with each parent, and conducts special classes when required to provide this focus.
While we started out with Maths as being our only domain, we added Science as well. We believe these disciplines are very close in the need for understanding how things work.
Students will do extensive practice and learn to solve complex problems step by step. Our teaching method will encourage a love of Maths or other subject. It will work on strengthening the fundamentals. It will result in better marks.

This is how we want our children to learn. It will be nice to see your children there as well.
